ASSIST® Storyboards

Updated: Aug 23, 2019

Creating compelling communications is an integral part of making transformation work.

There are some popular ways of communicating high-level aspects of strategy, operating models, and project portfolios. Here are just a few examples;

T-Maps - Transformation maps showing the scope and timing of projects and deliverables, and what strategic outcomes they deliver

Benefits Analysis - complex networks of issues, enablers, improvements, objectives, measures, and outcomes

Business Model Canvas - a top level description of how a business idea will work commercially and operationally in terms of partners, activities, value, customer relationships and segments, costs and revenue streams

Geographic's - maps showing geographic locations of offices, issues, capabilities, and projects

2 x 2 matrices - an old favourite because they help to prompt discussion on how to trade-off value, risk, effort and more

Organisation Charts - the humble organogram was probably the first ever model type used in business. It is still relevant today, particularly if is can be combined with other dimensions such as roles, costs, and location

In any large transformation project, the number of documents, presentations, diagrams, spreadsheets can quickly multiply into the hundreds - particularly when projects extend to local implementations. However, maintaining transformation models and plans in PowerPoint, Visio, Word and Project can be a headache because requirements and knowledge inevitably evolve over time. Retaining integrity of content across many files is tricky and with information distributed, it can become increasingly difficult to evaluate the impact of change or to reconcile differences.

The latest version of ASSIST® builds on existing strategic analysis, operating model design and portfolio optimisation to allow full flexibility in creating transformation models using dynamic links to library objects stored in an integrated database. Custom storyboard templates to reflect brand or layout preferences can be used to create compelling transformation stories for all stakeholders, keeping them engaged with models that remain integrated and consistent over time.
